National Night Out Brings Howard Park Together

Howard Park residents gathered on August 4 for a wonderful National Night Out celebration hosted by the Howard Park Civic Association Board. Neighbors came together for an evening of fellowship, food, fun, and community conversation.

The event featured a beautiful performance by the Concord Baptist Church Youth Choir, as well as visits from Councilmen Isaac "Yitzy" Schleifer and Paris Gray. The 41st District delegation was represented by Democratic primary winner Ryan Turner, who took time to connect with residents and hear their perspectives about the neighborhood.

Families enjoyed children's activities, and one of the highlights of the evening was the arrival of a Baltimore City Fire Department fire truck, giving residents an opportunity to meet firefighters and learn more about their work in the community.

Residents also participated in a Community Conversation Board, sharing what they love most about Howard Park and ideas for strengthening the neighborhood. Many participants highlighted friendly neighbors and ShopRite as important community assets. Residents also expressed interest in reducing litter, expanding beautification efforts, and creating more activities for children and families. One popular suggestion was to organize a community Easter egg hunt and other family-friendly neighborhood events throughout the year.

The evening was a great reminder that strong neighborhoods are built through connection, conversation, and community involvement.
